Hello, I have noticed that installing Silverlight component on Maco OS X Maveric became a bit harder. I have checked forums and it seems that now to be able to install Silverlight component offline, you need to allow it: Safari/Settings/Security/Internet-Plugins: Allow Plugins - Organize Website Settings.
Select Silverlight on left side, on right side select hostname, pulldown 'Execute in unsecure mode'. That's something that experienced user can do, but other users will need instructions on how to do it. Browsers other than safari work like a charm, when you install Silverlight component they install it as they would normally do, in all other versions of Mac OS X and PC. My question is is there something developers can do when developing their applications to allow Silverlight components to be installed as they were before, w/o specifically allowing and going into unsecure mode in safari? Please, excuse me for my English.
Thank you in advance. Hi, I am not clear about ' is there something I as developer can change in the Silverlight application to allow it to be installed w/o setting Silverlight to run in unsecure mode.' Silverlight running in unsecure mode on Safari is a work around. It's related to Safari security setting. Silverlight should have run in normal situation, for the reason before, Silverlight run in unsecure mode. Yes, the Silverlight is compatible with Maveric, it works great in safari. But, if you will try install Silverlight application in Out Of Browser mode (detach it) you will notice that when you click on the install button that calls Application.Current.Install; you will notice that nothing will happen; no install dialog will be shown. To fix this in Safari on Maveric's you would need to allow Silverlight plugin to run in 'unsecure' mode: Safari/Settings/Security/Internet-Plugins: Allow Plugins - Organize Website Settings. Select Silverlight on left side, on right side select hostname, pulldown 'Execute in unsecure mode'. The question is, is there something I as developer can change in the Silverlight application to allow it to be installed w/o setting Silverlight to run in unsecure mode. I hope I described the problem/question well.
